The Old Swimming Hole

Oct 27, 2026 01:59PM ● By G. Gregory Tooker

There is a place where the river bends,

Where we exercised our real intend,

To tie the bonds among true friends,

And in so doing a message send.

To those who struggle in this world,

Where stress and conflict oft unfurl,

That friendship is a source so real,

Of peace, happiness, with ties that seal.

With unfettered innocence we did cavort,

In the flowing waters, with great resort,

To conquer fear and openly court,

The confidence which can't be taught.

Now decades passed, my mind recalls,

With warm embrace of memories all,

The clasping fragrance of green grass tall,

Beside the oasis where blackbirds call.

Although my friends no longer swim,

In the eddying current of Nature's whim,

Those sunlit days will never dim,

In the treasure trove I guard within.
