NCTV will open its doors again to the community for the second First Friday: Music, Media, and Art Showcase on Friday, October 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. at NCTV's Gallery & Meeting Space, 158 Main Street, in downtown Norfolk.

Held on the first Friday evening of each month, First Friday celebrates local art, music, media, and community creativity. The event brings together local artists, musicians, filmmakers, small business owners, and other creators, giving residents an opportunity to discover their neighbors' talents while connecting with one another.

On the second Saturday of the month, NCTV is starting Second Saturday Podcast, Camera, and Editing Trainings. Pride will lead the trainings, and the first session is October 10 from 1 to 5 pm. The trainings are free for members or $40.00 per session for non-members, and are capped at 12 attendees. There are no prerequisites to attend.

The station is also starting Third Thursday Game Nights on October 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. Station staff will provide the games, so we just need some players. The free event is open to everyone in the community.

These events are part of NCTV's larger efforts to celebrate the station's 40th anniversary, reintroduce itself to the community, and encourage residents to become more involved in front of and behind the camera.

Carl Pride, NCTV's Community Media Director, commented that he "was thrilled with the First Friday kickoff. Over 30 people attended and enjoyed the art and live music. We are looking forward to the series continued success and seeing members of the community coming together to connect, as we introduce new event series later in October."

October’s Featured Artist

Each First Friday will feature a different local artist whose work will be displayed in NCTV’s new gallery. The October artist is Steven Scarsciotti, Owner of Boston Surface Design. He will curate a multimedia and interactive show featuring his surface design, canvas, and poured paint works. 

NCTV: More Than TV

As NCTV celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2026, the station continues to serve Norfolk as a nonprofit community media organization, providing local public, educational, and government programming. It also offers free educational programs, workshops, and access to media production equipment. In exchange, the station relies on volunteers and community participation to fulfill its mission.
