Absent faith, we float adrift,

Not knowing where our ship will port,

Nor how the sands of time will shift,

Blindly seeking a cause to court.

Faith in love provides life's frame,

Bulwark shunts dark fears aside,

In ponderous universe untamed,

A golden light to stem the tide.

But when a faith proclaims it rules,

Arguing sole veracity,

Conflict starts and sparks the duel,

A dangerous road toward zealotry.

What purpose does allegiance serve,

When it results in misery?

From logic tainted thinking swerves,

In lockstep marching shamelessly.

One guideline universally endures,

Proven watchwords so all will win,

"Do unto others...", a certain cure,

Safe voyage past the reefs of sin.
