The Fiske Public Library continues its summer hours in August, with the library open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and Fridays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays. The library is closed Saturdays in July and August.

Discount tickets remain available through the Friends of the Fiske. Southwick's Zoo admission tickets are available for $20 by cash or check or $22 through Venmo and are valid for daytime general admission during the 2026 operating season. Discount Showcase Cinema tickets are also available for $10 each and have no expiration date.

It's not too late to join the library's Summer Reading Program, Plant a Seed, Read! Children who sign up receive a free book, courtesy of the Friends of the Fiske, while supplies last, and those who complete their reading logs by Aug. 14 are eligible to earn prizes. The library is also participating in the Massachusetts Student Reading Challenge, which encourages students to read one book each month, collect stickers, earn library prizes, and enter monthly raffles through the Massachusetts Center for the Book.

Children's programs this month include Fairy Gardens on Aug. 4, Teen Craft Night on Aug. 5, the Page Turners Book Club on Aug. 6, Summer Garden Science on Aug. 7, Pumpernickel Puppets on Aug. 10, Mother Goose on the Loose on Aug. 11, Flying High Dogs on Aug. 12, Chicken Storytime on Aug. 13, Reel Fun Fridays: Lunchtime Movie on Aug. 14, and Read to Sophie the Library Dog on Aug. 18. Adult offerings include Free IT Help office hours on Tuesdays by appointment, August spice kits featuring tarragon, Take & Make mason jar suncatcher craft kits beginning Aug. 3, a suncatchers workshop on Aug. 4, the Fiske Library Book Club discussion of The God of the Woods by Liz Moore on Aug. 25, and a shell decoupage workshop on Aug. 27.

The library will also offer three free virtual author talks in August featuring Paula J. Johnson on Aug. 4, Beronda Montgomery on Aug. 25 and Lucy Foley on Aug. 27.
