They're at it again!

After the tremendous success of their November fundraiser benefiting the Norfolk Food Pantry, Brian Robbins, Moe Naggar, and Afranio "Junior" De Oliveira from The Horse Restaurant, Pastor Dan Woodman, and the Federated Church of Norfolk congregants teamed up once again-this time to honor and support Norfolk's American Legion Post 335 through the Salute to Service Fundraiser this past May.

Throughout May, The Horse Restaurant again generously donated 10% of all Monday food sales to benefit American Legion Post 335. Diners enjoyed a meal while knowing they were helping support the veterans who have faithfully served our country. The month-long fundraiser once again brought the community together. Church members, veterans, families, and friends filled the restaurant each Monday evening, creating an atmosphere of gratitude, fellowship, and community. Building on the momentum of last November's successful Food Pantry fundraiser, the partnership demonstrated once again what can happen when neighbors unite around a common cause.

By the end of the fundraiser, the partnership had raised $2,000 for American Legion Post 335. The funds will help the post continue its mission of serving veterans, supporting military families, sponsoring youth programs, and preserving the traditions of service and patriotism that are so important to the Norfolk community.

In a fitting tribute to the next generation of servicemen and women, Frank Zolli of Post 335 said that the American Legion will use a portion of the funds raised to establish a new scholarship for a graduating King Phillip student who plans to serve in the United States Armed Forces. The scholarship will recognize a student who embodies the values of service, sacrifice, and commitment while encouraging young people who have chosen to answer the call to serve. Zolli expressed his appreciation for the community's generous support, noting that the fundraiser not only strengthens the work of American Legion Post 335 today but also creates an opportunity to invest in future service members through the new scholarship.

The Horse's generosity in opening their restaurant once again demonstrated how a local restaurant can bring a community together for something bigger than itself. Pastor Dan reflected, "This fundraiser reminds us of what can happen when a local restaurant, a church, and a veterans organization work together for a common purpose and that it's not just about raising money-it's about honoring those who have served, investing in those who will serve in the future, and strengthening the bonds that make Norfolk such a caring community."
