Federated Church seeks volunteers for meal ministry, donation drive

The Federated Church of Norfolk is seeking volunteers to support its longtime meal ministry at the Food and Friends Soup Kitchen at Centenary Church in Attleboro.

The church has participated in the program for more than 35 years, helping provide meals for those experiencing food insecurity. During the COVID-19 pandemic, meals were distributed as takeout, with the church continuing to provide hot meals and take-home totes every six weeks.

As the soup kitchen returns to in-person dining, volunteers are needed to help transport, plate and serve meals in Attleboro. The church is also seeking donations of casseroles, cookies and bars.

Upcoming volunteer dates are June 20, Aug. 15, Oct. 17 and Dec. 19.

In July, the church will again hold its “Christmas in July” collection drive for area food pantries, accepting donations of nonperishable food, cereal, boxed snacks, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products and baby diapers.

The Federated Church holds Sunday services at 10 a.m., followed by a coffee hour.

Those interested in volunteering or donating may contact the Federated Church of Norfolk at [email protected] or visit fcon.org for more information.
