Norfolk County Real Estate Activity Shows Steady Start to 2026

Real estate activity in Norfolk County remained steady in January 2026 compared to the same period last year.

The Norfolk County Registry of Deeds recorded 7,907 documents in January, a 1% increase from January 2025, though 22% lower than December 2025.

“Document recordings for January held close to last year’s levels,” said Norfolk County Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell. “Real estate activity typically slows at the start of the year following December’s end-of-year surge.”

A total of 1,124 deeds were recorded, a 2% decrease from January 2025, while total commercial and residential real estate sales reached $710 million, a 10% increase year over year.

The average sale price was $1,498,107, up 21% from January 2025 and 4% from December 2025.

Lending activity also increased. The Registry recorded 1,251 mortgages, a 10% increase from January 2025, though 29% lower than December 2025. Total mortgage indebtedness reached $929 million, a 19% increase from the previous year.

Foreclosure activity remained low, with three foreclosure deeds recorded, down from four in January 2025. Twenty-four notices to foreclose were recorded, up from 20 last year.
