Norfolk Barber to Compete in Charity Boxing Event Supporting Parkinson’s Research
Mar 27, 2026 09:09AM ● By Grace AllenNorfolk resident Kenneth Murphy, owner of Main Street Shave in Norfolk, will take part in Punch 4 Parkinson’s, a charity boxing event scheduled for April 23 at The Royale, located at 279 Tremont St. in Boston.
Murphy is participating in the event as part of a fundraising effort to support individuals living with Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis. As one of the fighters, he has been challenged to raise $7,500.
Punch 4 Parkinson’s is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that develops non-combat boxing training and exercise programs for people living with Parkinson’s disease. Through charitable donations, the organization has sponsored more than 500 participants—known as “Warriors”—and provides hands-on training through boxing centers sanctioned by USA Boxing.
Murphy said that if he is able to meet or exceed the fundraising target and become one of the event’s top contributors, he will earn a championship belt. He hopes to display the belt in his barbershop.
“To me, that belt wouldn’t just represent my win. It would represent Norfolk and the community coming together for a great cause,” Murphy said, noting that many of the people supporting his fundraising efforts so far are from town.
Murphy said he is currently training for the event and hopes to give his best performance on fight night. “I plan on giving it everything I’ve got,” he said.
Individuals interested in supporting Murphy’s fundraising efforts can donate through his online page, or by scanning the QR code. Donations are tax-deductible, and contributors will automatically receive a receipt after completing their donation.
