Norfolk County Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell reports that real estate activity in Norfolk County increased in 2025 compared to 2024, with rises in document recordings, property sales, and mortgage activity.

A total of 110,561 documents were recorded in 2025, a 7% increase from the previous year. July was the busiest month, and December showed the largest year-over-year increase, rising 16%. 

Deed recordings totaled 16,906 in 2025, also up 7%, while property sales rose 3% from 2024. June recorded the highest number of property sales with 1,012 transactions and the largest year-over-year increase for sales, rising 13% from June 2024. 

Average sale prices for commercial and residential properties increased 6% to $1,216,895, and total sales volume rose 9%. November saw the largest year-over-year price increase, rising 46%. 

Mortgage activity also increased, with 17,652 mortgages recorded in 2025, up 14% from 2024. December recorded the largest year-over-year increase in mortgage recordings, rising 29%. 

Foreclosure activity declined. There were 56 foreclosure deeds recorded in 2025, compared to 87 in 2024. Notices to foreclose totaled 274, down from 380 the previous year.
