The field of candidates for Wrentham’s April 6 Annual Town Election has come into focus, featuring both contested and uncontested seats and at least one planned write-in campaign.

Town Clerk Ann Fisk confirmed that the election will be held Monday, April 6, with the last day to register to vote set for March 27. 

This spring there is one contested race: the Wrentham Elementary School Committee has three candidates competing for two three-year seats. Incumbent Cynthia A. Fuller is seeking reelection and will appear on the ballot alongside Lawrence A. Greene and Rebecka Dawn Webber.

Uncontested Ballot Races

All the other offices are uncontested, meaning candidates will appear on the ballot unopposed.

On the Select Board, incumbent Michelle M. Rouse is seeking another three-year term.

Sara C. Shaw is running for the three-year seat on the Board of Health.

The Planning Board will see both incumbents return, with Charles G. Woodhams, Jr., and Robert S. English running for the two three-year seats. 

The two three-year seats on the Fiske Library Trustees board will see Honora E. Rainville and Diane G. Rook running for reelection.

For the King Philip Regional School Committee, Veronica M. Gonzalez is the sole candidate seeking the three-year seat representing Wrentham.

Write-In Campaign Underway

The Board of Assessors race presents a different scenario. Incumbent Edward F. O’Neil did not return nomination papers by the deadline but, according to the town clerk’s office, is planning a write-in campaign for the three-year seat. 

Two Candidate Forums Offer Voters Different Opportunities

Wrentham voters will have two opportunities to hear from candidates ahead of the election, with separate forums scheduled by different groups.

The Town of Wrentham will host a candidates’ forum on Thursday, March 5, at 7 p.m. at Fiske Public Library, according to the town’s website.

Wrentham Engagement (WE), a citizen-led civic group, will hold its third annual candidates’ forum on March 11 at King Philip Regional High School beginning at 7:30 p.m. According to the organization, WE operates independently of the town and does not endorse candidates.

Candidates may choose whether to participate in one or both forums.

In addition to the forum, Wrentham Engagement has scheduled other opportunities for voters to learn about candidates:

• Candidate Profiles: Available on the group’s online Voter Guide beginning March 2.

• Candidate Video Recording: Recording sessions will be held March 3-7 at Wrentham Community Media.

• Candidates on the Common: The fifth annual outdoor meet-and-greet event will take place Saturday, March 21 at 11 a.m.
