The Federated Church of Norfolk invites the community to take part in worship, fellowship, and service opportunities throughout the Lenten season as the church journeys toward Easter. Children’s Sunday School is offered each week during the worship service hour, along with family-oriented events.

The season will begin with a community Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, March 7, from 8 to 10 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

Throughout March, Rev. Dan Woodman will lead a Lenten Bible study, “Why Did Jesus Have to Die” by Adam Hamilton, on March 3, 5, 10, 17, 24, and 31 at either 11 a.m. or 7 p.m. The study offers an opportunity for reflection and conversation during the Lenten season. Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday worship on Sunday, March 29, at 10 a.m., commemorating Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem.

A Last Supper service will be held Thursday, April 2, at 7 p.m., offering a time of reflection and communion in remembrance of Jesus’ final meal with his disciples.

On Good Friday, April 3, the sanctuary will be open from noon to 3 p.m. for quiet prayer, meditation, and reflection. Visitors are welcome to stop in at any time during those hours.

On Saturday, April 4, from 8 to 10 a.m., the church will host a second Pancake Breakfast along with the decorating of the Blooming Cross in front of the church. Community members of all ages are invited to add flowers to the cross.

Easter Sunday will be celebrated April 5 with two services. An outdoor service will be held at 8 a.m. on Town Hill, followed by a traditional service at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary featuring special music by Southern Rail, a bluegrass gospel group.
