Monday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. Feeding Backyard Birds In Massachusetts (Virtual) Learn about the birds typically seen at feeding stations and in backyard sanctuaries in Massachusetts. Discover aids to field identification and how to enhance your yard for wildlife. Presented by Bill Gette, the retired Director of the Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center in Newburyport. Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. Medway Branch Road Shared Use Path Workshop Senior workshop about the Medway Branch Road shared use path, which is being constructed along the former Medway Branch Rail Line, that starts from Dean Street and ends right before Carlson Circle. RSVP requested. 

Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. Warm Up Your Winter Candle Making In this candle making workshop for beginners, participants will learn the basics of candle making and create one container candle using soy wax. Approximate size is 2.5”x2.5”, with the finished candle weighing 2.75 oz. Cost: $7. Limited to 22 people. RSVP required.

Thursday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. Science Club: Garden Chemistry & Soil Content Resident Jeffrey Thumm is launching a new monthly Science Club that invites participants to bring their own science questions and interests for open, engaging discussion. Each meeting will focus on building shared knowledge, exploring topics together, and making science accessible and enjoyable for all. This session will cover the basics of soil chemistry, including how to adjust soil conditions for different crops, understanding NPK values, and using pH measurements to achieve the best growing results. Monday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. History of the Flying Santa of the Lighthouses (Virtual) Learn about the long-running tradition of the Flying Santa, an aerial gift-giving program that has visited lighthouses and lifesaving stations since 1929. Started by Maine pilot Bill Wincapaw and later carried on for decades by historian Edward Rowe Snow, the tradition continues today through the Friends of Flying Santa, honoring Coast Guard members and their families from Maine to New York. This program will be presented by Jeremy D’Entremont. RSVP requested. 

Thursday, Dec. 18 Holiday Lunch and Concert From noon to 1 p.m., enjoy a holiday lunch from Olive Garden, featuring a pasta station with meatballs, sausage, grilled chicken, salad, and breadsticks. From 1 to 2 p.m., enjoy a Pure Fun Concert with David and Stephanie Ghioni, who will entertain with holiday music and a laugh or two. RSVP requested.

Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 1 p.m. Holiday Piano Concert and Sing-Along Catie Siedel will present a Christmas piano concert and sing-along featuring favorite carols. Catie lives in Norfolk and was the music director at the Federated Church before going to college. She has been playing piano since she was five years old and loves to spread Christmas cheer.
