Candidates Night is Set

The Norfolk Community League is sponsoring its annual Candidates’ Night on Tuesday, April 23 at 7 p.m. This event will take place at the King Philip Junior High School auditorium. Candidates for town-wide office will be available to meet the public and participate in a Q&A forum. Refreshments will be served. Area Police and Educators Attend School Shooter Response Training

Members of Wrentham Police, Wrentham Public Schools and King Philip Regional School Systems attended a two-day training on how to save lives in the event of a school shooting, hosted by Norfolk DA Michael Morrissey last week.

The Charles River Chorale begins rehearsal for its 29th season on Tuesday, January 15th, 7:30 p.m. at the Millis Church of Christ, Rt. 115. In response to recent events the NCL recognizes the spirit of community.

The tragedy that occurred last week in Newtown, CT has touched each of us in very different ways. Perhaps you are feeling sad for those who died and their families, proud of the heroes who emerged or confused at the unspeakable violence. Now is a time for reflection and peace as we celebrate the holidays and look ahead to 2013. We have witnessed the Newtown community rise up and join together in healing and we hope the town of Norfolk can also find peace within our own community.

Spring Travel Soccer Registration Closes Dec. 15

Registration for Spring Travel Soccer is now open for U14-U18 players living in Plainville, Norfolk, and Wrentham. King Philip Soccer Association (KPSA) fields competitive travel soccer teams (U13/U14 in the Fall and U14 - U18 in the Spring). Spring registrations are on a "first come - first served" basis due to limited field availability so register now to avoid being placed on a waiting list. The Spring 2013 fee is $110 per player, which includes registration and field use fees. Registration closes December 15 - so register now.

Increased Need a Challenge for Wrentham Food Pantry

As the holiday season and the subsequent cold winter months move in, the Wrentham Food Pantry is gearing up for increased need as its patrons decide between paying for heat or paying for food. The past few years has brought increased patronage to the Wrentham Food Pantry, which recently provided 60-70 Wrentham families with a Thanksgiving dinner, according to volunteer Cathy Marcin.
The pantry, located in the Whiston House behind the Original Congregational Church in downtown Wrentham, serves about 30 to 35 families weekly
